I viewed Channel 16. Several parades pushed forward.
The cities of Wilkes-Barre, Scranton and others focused on those who attended wearing green in support of this annual celebration in Northeastern PA.

How do we restore faith in the justice system?
Those elected or appointed to serve on the Judicial Conduct Board are responsible to act in the best interest of the citizens they serve. Please remember the individuals who sacrificed their personal health and time to question the many issues related to this circumstance.
MANY FORGET about HOW REPUBLICAN STEPHEN A. URBAN AND FORMER DEMOCRAT CONTROLLER STEVE FLOOD FOUGHT CONTINUOUSLY WITH DISREGARD FOR THEIR OWN HEALTH TO CLEAN UP CORRUPTION IN LUZERNE COUNTY PRIOR TO THE CURRENT FBI INVESTIGATIONS.

This will take decades to change the hearts and minds in this political culture.
I have faith to keep going with the path taken for accountability.
Please remember that greed was a factor.
Comfortable lifestyles and materialism took over the hearts of men and women involved in the Kids for Cash crime.

A toll is a tax.

Stephen A. Urban opposes making Interstate 80 a toll road. Tolls on I-80 will hurt businesses, raise consumer prices, and cost Pennsylvania jobs. I-80 tolls will have a negative financial impact on the people who live along the I-80 corridor and use the highway regularly.

This was a toll free road. It was intended to stay toll free forever. The funding allocated for this transportation system was given under those conditions.

Lower Luzerne,

This is mostly a technical question about this website. Try to remember in other areas of our country and this world there are extremely poor transportation problems. I am grateful to live here in the USA! LOL I am also trying to avoid many potholes as I drive around the city and this county! The cold winter weather has made pothole problems a part of living here in Northeastern PA. Drive safely!

HEY CHRIS!

This is a forum topic example where a typing error was not corrected.
The correct spelling of our city is : HAZLETON

It is now a permanent error. We are making our comments about life here in the state of PA. Most of us try to work around our busy lives. We write our opinions between lunch, dinner and the many responsibilities we carry. Sometimes we do not have the luxury to correct errors within the hour allotted when posting our thoughts. These errors will occur. Will there be any way in the future to correct typos, etc? Do all these forums stay in the history of internet mistakes forever? When I realize I have an error the best I can do is type a comment later in the forum.

....to error is human......
I hope readers forgive and forget.

THERE ARE MANY SUCCESSFUL PROJECTS ATTRIBUTED TO STEPHEN A. URBAN'S LEADERSHIP here in LOWER LUZERNE COUNTY. Should you criticize him for visiting the many communities of this county? Should you criticize him for doing his job when he attends meetings in Hazleton?

Here are a few examples of his leadership in the Southern Region of Luzerne County

He obtained funding for:
Hazleton Intermodal Project
Nescopek Park used by Senior citizens and children
Restored Stream bank in Nescopek Township which prevents serious erosion to homes and businesses
Sewerage Treatment Plant in Nescopek
Road Construction in Sugarloaf Township

Luzerne County is over 900,000 square miles. It has a population of at least 312,000 people.
He attends all required meetings. He is constantly out and about in the community of Luzerne County.

STEPHEN A. URBAN WILL BE THERE AS COMMISSIONER FOR THE TAXPAYERS OF LUZERNE COUNTY.

In any office this man will continue his dedicated service to the best of his abilities.

Mr. Urban knows the meaning of hard work.
Mr. Urban served in Vietnam and in the Persian Gulf War.
As Lieutenant Governor, Steve will work with the Governor and Legislature to create jobs for Pennsylvanians and improve the economy of the Keystone State.

- Steve believes Pennsylvania can be energy independent. Wind, solar, and nuclear energy along with the production of natural gas throughout Pennsylvania (while protecting our environment) can make energy independence a reality, and lower energy costs for all Pennsylvania residents.

- Steve will fight for lower county property taxes. He will work with the Legislature and Governor to transition the funding for the Court of Common Pleas and District Justice support staff, Adult and Juvenile Probation, Domestic Relations, Stenographers, Clerk of Courts, Prothonotaries, Registers of Wills and Law Libraries to the State. Steve believes state funding of the Lower Courts will help reduce county property taxes in all counties in our State.

- Steve opposes making Interstate 80 a toll road. Tolls on I-80 will hurt businesses, raise consumer prices, and cost Pennsylvania jobs. I-80 tolls will have a negative financial impact on the people who live along the I-80 corridor and use the highway regularly.

This opinion questions the dedication and public service of Luzerne County Commissioner Stephen A. Urban and Wilkes-Barre Mayor Thomas Leighton.

http://www.timesleader.com/opinion/To_clean_house__you_stay-home-03-12-2010.html

This is about taking action. I believe Luzerne County Commissioner Stephen A. Urban has proven day after day he has a strong work ethic. He has kept his nose to the grindstone.

I will cast my vote for him on May 18th.

IT IS APPARENT THAT SOME PEOPLE AND THE EDITOR OF THE TIMES LEADER FORGET about HOW REPUBLICAN STEPHEN A.
Any review of Luzerne County Commissioner meeting minutes will show Stephen A. Urban present and working.

I have attended several Luzerne County Commissioner meetings. I have spoken against the tax increases. I reminded the Commissioners of the burden for the senior population.
Commissioner Stephen A. Urban listened and voted against more tax increases. Luzerne County Commissioners Maryanne Petrilla and Thomas Cooney voted for tax increases. COMMISSIONER MARYANNE PETRILLA IGNORED THE HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION. COMMISSIONER STEPHEN A. URBAN STOOD UP FOR 76,000 RESIDENTS. He pointed out this error. IT WAS RESTORED AFTER A LEGAL REVIEW.

He constantly out and about in the community of Luzerne County.

STEPHEN A. URBAN WILL BE YOUR VOICE IN HARRISBURG!

Chris,
some interesting reading. Corbett has charged Veon and others of doing campaign work on state time. He has also been on TV bragging how he uses his cell phone for both State work and Campaign calls. it seems he has violated State Campaign laws by doing just that. you can only use campaign funded activities
for the purpose of influencing the outcome of an election... (or)...to compensate any person for services rendered to a candidate or political committee."

Just the fact that he has publicly said he uses the phone for anything other than influencing the outcome of an election puts him in violation of the same thing he has charged others for. Pretty interesting actually......some great reading here on this subject.

I would love to see a sign in sheet at the Courthouse. I cant believe this man can run for 2 offices and not take away from the time he should give to being a Commissioner. What he is doing is lying to each and every voter.
I am going to request minutes of all work sessions, public meetings, department budget meetings and the like and I KNOW I will find him absent from work.

This is NOT right.

oh and to the Republican County party, this is the best you can do? and in Hazleton they had to talk a young attorney to switch party's to run against Eachus. I hear all this talk about building the party, I DON'T SEE IT>

The most recent meeting was in Pittston, PA.
The debate continues. Change will occur when the people decide to vote for change. It is my opinion the political culture is bascially same. Look at the numbers of individuals running for office. Apathy is present. Candidates are under attack by the media. Many citizens do not vote. Change will occur but it will not happen very fast.
When you read this article it might appear by a few comments that voters are involved with the real decisions.
Read this latest article in the Times Leader.
This has not eliminated the issues about cronyism and nepotism.

This opinion questions the dedication and public service of Luzerne County Commissioner Stephen A. Urban and Wilkes-Barre Mayor Thomas Leighton.

 http://www.timesleader.com/opinion/To_clean_house__you_stay-home-03-12-2010.html

This is in reference mostly to Luzerne County Commissioner Stephen A. Urban and his circulation of two petitions to be placed on the May 18th Primary ballot of PA. Lt. Governor and PA. 14th District State Senator.

Anyone living in the PA. 14th District who meets the criteria can circulate a petition to run for the State Senator seat. I am glad Stephen A. Urban did not sit idle. He walked the pavements to obtain signatures. No other Republican in that district chose to collect signatures and run for this office. There was a three week period for anyone to collect signatures. Should we just give this seat away to the Democrats?

This is about taking action and not letting the Democrats keep the corruption machine working to break more public trust in government. The majority of Democrats in this county have destroyed public trust.

I believe Luzerne County Commissioner Stephen A. Urban has proven day after day he has a strong work ethic. He has kept his nose to the grindstone.

I will cast my vote for him on May 18th for Lt. Governor. I do not live in the 14th district. I hope others in that area will vote for him.

The party doesn't want a candidate that's connected to the people, they want one with money. While unfortunate, this was what we expected.”

Russell says he will continue campaigning to be the Republican nominee in the May 18th primary election. “This is a fight we started more than two and a half years ago,” said Russell. “I have covered this district from one end to the other, and I am fully aware of how the voters feel disenfranchised by their elected officials and the party elite. This campaign is about the people, not the entrenched establishment.”

Starting tomorrow we will be identifying some of the largest, deepest pot holes in the City of Hazleton. after we have a list of the TOP 10 we will forward them to the Mayor of Hazleton. I am sure he remembers the famous quote from President Bush at the PNC field in Scranton where Bush said for all to hear " Mayor Barletta fill the pot holes!"

feel free to post the location of your worst pot hole by street and cross street.

I know many were critical of the ONE million dollars that Eachus got to finish the auditorium in Hazleton and called it a waste. But here i read about a million dollars that IS a waste of money. Spending money for the Hazleton airport is like throwing money out the airplane window! I mean WHO uses it, what industry WOULD move out if we didn't have it?

I am sure all those critical of the money Eachus got have to be losing their minds after reading this article. DONT YOU THINK?
