Kathy,

If you cannot hold your own in a debate over Human Rights, then don't use that as a topic to attack me on. Further, when I succeed in showing you that you don't know what you are talking about, stop bailing yourself out by making false accusations of racism against me. the debate is about whether or not we want a halfway house in downtown Hazleton. I say no and I clearly explain why I do not want it. I don't care if the convicts at the halfway hose are white or not, I don't want them here, nor do I want the many hispanic street gangs that have infiltrated our country and our community to be here either. That is not racism and your claiming that I am racist is a slanderous act for which I will take legal action if you don't stop doing so. It is you who brought me to this web page of yours, where you post whatever attack you want about others that Carl would not post. That is a coldhearted analysis of the facts.

Now, stop posting your personal attacks on me on this web page and I will have no reason to return to it. Finally, go take a college class in the things that you claim are of overarching importance in your life, like Human Rights. I have done that, both at Columbia and in the military, for as you can imagine, such issues are of immediate concern to the military when training its soldiers on things like rules of engagement.

All that you are doing is picking fights over topics you have done no research on. You are doing it as part of scheme to market yourself as the local "artist" and you are merely parroting the points of view that you believe an artist should have and that you believe will make you appear sophisticated to others. How dare you claim that I endorse violations of Human Rights, when you clearly don't even know what they are? Did you notice that HSBC ( Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank Corporation) is running a commercial that promotes the surrendering of U.S. sovereignty, the surrendering of U.S. markets and the acceptance of China's "one child policy"?, If you are as concerned with Human Rights as you claim, you would pick up on things like this. Yet you fail to do so. Why? Because you don't know jack shit about Human Rights. You are just soap boxing without preparedness. You are not a political activist but a shame who is selling political activism as a means of furthering your would be art business in Hazleton. You decided that your schtick would be the illuminated liberal and it works when you banter to the uneducated population of Hazleton, where a mere google search puts you ahead of most in terms of how well informed you are. But when given you opportunity to prove yourself when up against someone who is truly educated, you deal with defeat by waging slander. What's the matter Kathy? Is it the fact that you didn't get to be the heroine of justice and knowledge that you thought the public would merely grant you because you did a web search and some political parroting that amount to nothing more than poorly thought through and ill informed slanderous gibber? Is it not you who started by demanding that the halfway house be closed or moved away from your business? Don't slander me and attempt to make something out of my candid analysis of circumstances that isn't there and to then use it as a cover to bring about the closure of a halfway house that you feel in impeding you profits. You are the one who stands to make money from the halfway house being closed. I make no money regardless of whether it expands in size or closes down. But I don't hide my views behind yours or anyone else's.

Further, as I stated, if the U.S. recognized Human Rights (which it does not and should not), then your rights would come from the innate characteristic of being a human, rather than from the constitution. But clearly rights can be taken away and the constitution allows for that. Human Rights implies that rights are innate. Constitutional rights imply that they come from the document itself. We fight to protect that document and in doing so, the forfeiture of rights by some portion of the population becomes necessary to achieve the higher good.

These are the sorts of things that a soldier ponders in his or her thoughts and later refines in graduate school. I suggest that you do the same. Your utter lack of a sophisticated response and your utter propensity to attack with slanderous and false accusations, claiming that you somehow know what I believe and doing so because you are mad over the fact that you can't hold an argument about Human Rights is your own damn fault. Don't accuse me of racism simply because you know nothing about Human Rights. I know much more about cultures other than my own than you will ever know about those cultures or your own.

Stop cutting my posts from the Standard Speaker web page and pasting them here and stop accusing me of things. Most of all, stop making accusations in the third person. You started this unsolicited blog by criticizing the public for not signing their names to their critique of your Letter to the Editor and by praising me for doing the opposite. Then, you immediately slandered me because I pointed out the flaws in your argument. If you want recognition for being the informed one, then become an informed one.

Sincerely,
Sean M. Donahue

His experience is quite the opposite of mine. I've been going door-to-door getting signatures for Peg Luksik and other Republican candidates, and the response has been rather positive and energetic. It seems that people are fed up with the Democrats mostly, but even the Republicans to some extent. They want candidates who are honest and will not lie to them. They're looking for candidates who honor their oath of office and uphold the Constitution. They're looking for candidates who represent traditional American values, not modern progressivism. That's what I have found going door-to-door in Nanticoke, where it is more than 3-to-1 Democrat over Republican. I had one man tell me he is a registered Democrat, but always votes Republican because the Democrats have messed up this country.

Just for the record, it is BOTH Democrats and Republicans who have messed up this country. Both parties have given us legislators who have incrementally taken us far away from Americanism and our Founders' ideas. We need candidates who are minded to return us to the liberties we were once known for.

Some Republican candidates will fit that description. Only a rare Democrat will. It is more likely that some principled independents and third party candidates will better fit that description. However, most of these don't even see the light of day during a campaign season because of the legislative favoritism toward the two major parties ensuring a very tough uphill climb for all other candidates to even make it on the ballot. So the very parties that purport to be our best hope (Rs & Ds), are the same ones who prohibit (or restrict) fair participation in the electoral system to give us a true range of political choices and alternatives to the status quo.

Add to that state party endorsements, state party dictates to county parties, and even county chairmen demanding that their own committee people support the endorsed candidates, and you have a recipe for all kinds of anger in the trenches of both parties.

In this election cycle, we need to completely clean house: Washington, Harrisburg, and the leadership of the major parties, too.

Behrens pulls state representative bid

Justin Behrens, an Iraq war veteran and chairman of the Wright Township auditors, will not run for state representative in the 119th Legislative District, he said Sunday night.

Behrens publicly announced last month he'd run for the seat currently held by state Rep. John Yudichak, D-Nanticoke. But Sunday, the Democrat cited a need to spend more time getting to know the people of the district to help restore public trust in government.

"It's been a rude awakening knocking on people's doors, getting signatures," Behrens said after issuing a press release detailing "angry door slamming, hostile conversations and lack of interest in becoming registered voters" as evidence of burgeoning political mistrust.

That leaves Mountain Top financial adviser Bob Morgan, Bear Creek Township Supervisor Chairman Gary Zingaretti and Newport Township attorney Gerald Mullery to compete for the Democratic nomination. Yudichak will not seek re-election as he focuses on a run for state Senate.

Candidates must file nomination petitions by Tuesday

so tell me, if someone is called to testify, does that mean they did something? I don't see your point? are you saying if he doesn't testify that he is hiding something, I mean I read where Karl Rove wont testify, do you think he is hiding something when it comes to the Iraq war, I mean over 5000 American soldiers lost their lives,

I am curious do you think the money was foolishly given to finish the project at the Castle? Did you attend the former Hazleton High School? Where did you go to school?

Kathy and egocadi,

You two don't know what you are talking about. The debate is over your heads and your responses to me proves that fact. The reason it is necessary to prove that fact is because someone may read your posts and assume you are correct. Finally, I would not have come to this page if Kathy didn't keep cutting and pasting the comments that I make on the Standard Speaker web page and then posting them and commenting about me here. If you don't know anything about a topic, then don't debate it.

Sincerely,

Kathy,

You obviously don't have an education. Look, I have two degrees in international affairs and "many citizens [who] would disagree with [my] last comment" don't know what they are talking about but I do know what I am talking about so pay close attention and this time learn from me, for I am your superior on such matters. You are the lay individual. I am not. Both you and the rest of the community will learn this by choice or I will use these web forums to beat it into your uneducated hillbilly Hazleton brains. Being a self-proclaimed artist does not make you an intellectually achieved person. You have to earn that. As I stated above, the US does not recognize Human Rights. This is a very important issue for the US so that we can prevent U.S. soldiers from being tried in the ICC and prevent the U.S. itself from being tried in the ICJ. When you have an education, then you can debate me on such issues. Right now, you sound like every other uneducated hillbilly in Hazleton. If you are going to say stuff like this, then know what you're talking about. The issue is not one of opinion and it isn't an extreme point of view. It's a a coldhearted fact. The US argument for recognizing Human Rights is that our own constitution's recognition of civil rights exceeds the quality of rights recognized in Human Rights. But we also do not recognize rights that are considered to be Human Rights, like economic rights.

I the US recognized Human Rights, then any time we took an action another country disagreed with, we would risk having the US president and even the Congress arrested by the UN for doing things like declaring war on another country. But, that same court could decide that an attack, like 911, is perfectly legal. The ICJ and ICC can have people on their benches from Iran, Syria, Lebanon and others. It becomes a politicized trial and the laws contradict those of the U.S. For example, if we were to ratify the Human Rights legislation and the ICJ decided that U.S, military operations in Afghanistan are illegal and ordered the U.S. to stop, then soldiers who obeyed President Obama's orders to deploy to Afghanistan anyway, could be arrested by the UN. Likewise, if the UN ordered the U.S. to invade China to stop the "One Child Policy" and the U.S. refused, we would again be in violation of the legislation. We could find ourselves compelled by the UN to send troops to places to make peace between waring sides, which means fight them both. If the U.S. President refused, he could be arrested. Not even the countries that have ratified the legislation abide by it because it is too pie idyllic. But, even the UK has been tried by it and if the legislation ever got teeth, democracy wouldn't mean anything in the face of that court. They would be able to trump the powers of the U.S. Congress and President by simply ruling that U.S. foreign policy is illegal.

Don't you know anything about the history of the world. I am really disappointed in the kinds of crap that you and a few others keep throwing out at me as if you have enough education to critique what I am saying. When I say something to Hazleton, it's not a discussion. It's a lecture. When you have the education and experience that I do then your views will be equal. For now, just learn from me or go to Georgetown, Hopkins, JFK, Fletcher, SIPA or the like and learn from them. But do one of the two and start getting your facts straight. The US does not recognize Human Rights. There have been numerous debates about this in the international community and in the US Congress. Why don't you try to find as much as one document that claims that the US recognizes Human Rights? Better yet, why don't you call a lawyer and ask him under what amendment an American is granted Human Rights.

Finally, if a soldier, a diplomat, an intelligence office, an FBI agent, Secret Service Agent or a cop ever recognized Human Rights and arrested an American Soldier on a Human Rights violation, that individual would be tried for treason by the USDOJ. Human Rights are not part of the US Constitution. The Bill of Rights are not Human Rights. The Constitution can be amended as often as the U.S. Congress wants to amend it. Human Rights presumes that Human Rights preexist their recognition by law. The rights themselves are said to have always been there, man just had to catch up to them. The US claims that rights come from the U.S. Constitution and that they were not always there. The use of the word "unalienable" to describe rights can be used against us but it comes from the Declaration of Independence, not the Constitution. Still, that declaration also presumes the preexistence of rights. But the purpose of the Constitution was that it serve as the overriding document that trumps all international treaties and laws. It was written to ensure that some generation of Americans would not come along later and naively assume that the U.S. constitution comes second to any other document that has ever or will ever exist. They even put the Bible second to the Constitution. Yet, it can be argued that the Human Rights you speak of so aimlessly with your bold display of naiveté and frequent disclosure of you gross lack of formal education were first recognized in the Bible, at lest some of them were. But the Bible competes with the Constitution on economic rights and the Constitution trumps the Bible.

The only courts that will hear a Human Rights case are foreign and international courts. You can't put an American on trial under a body of law it adamantly stands opposed to and repeatedly refused to sign. The U.S. does not recognize Human Rights. Get an education, then speak. By the way, the professor who taught Human Rights at Columbia MIA program when I was there headed the trial of the UK for sending in a team of 22SAS to assassinate a key member of the IRA who they couldn't capture and who was confirmed as being responsible for numerous violent attacks that killed many innocent citizens. The Brits dealt with it as if it was a war on terrorism but then found themselves facing trial for defending their own country during that war.

Google the following; SIPA and Columbia University. Search around the web page for the Human Rights concentration and you will likely find a wealth of literature there. Then apply to the program and learn about it in a rigorous manner. Like most Hazletonians, you display no rigor when you make an argument on the Standard Speaker web page, neither do the school teachers. As a group, you all make me laugh. You have never been out there, in the world. Yet you, as a group, have the audacity to attempt to speak with authority that you lack. You can also go to Stanford Law to specialize in Human Rights but you won't try a case citing those laws within the US, you will have to work in foreign courts in countries that have a very different approach to law and may not be democracies. Such countries are the worst violators of the Human Rights that they claim to recognize.

Sincerely,
Sean M. Donahue

PA 17th Congressional Race Hits Its Highest Humor Quotient Yet

March 4, 2010, Harrisburg, PA

“After receiving this news clip [about State Sentor Dave Argall heading up a new Senate panel to lower state government costs] in the mail, I realized that the campaign for the 17th Pennsylvania Congressional seat had hit its moment of greatest humor,” said Josh First, Republican candidate for the seat.

Newly minted State senator Dave Argall is now heading up a senate panel seeking cost-cutting ideas for state government.

“Ummm, let’s see here, “ said First.”….voters have suggested several rather easy and plainly evident ways to help Senator Argall cut costs: Number One: Pay back the thousands of taxpayer dollars in per-diem payments you recently collected when the state government was shut down last fall; no one knows what work you were doing at that time. Number two, pay back the tens of thousands of dollars in taxpayer-funded pay-raise you took at midnight. Number three, take back the hundreds of thousands of dollars you gave to your own non-profit in Tamaqua, where sitting board members, who are also political donors of yours, were able to purchase properties at sweetheart prices far below what the taxpayers had just paid for them. Number four, if you win this Congressional race, then the taxpayers will want you to repay the over three million dollars spent less than a year ago on your Special Election to the senate seat you now hold. They will also want you to pay the millions of dollars for the new Special Election that will have to be held to replace you with yet another new state senator. Finally, you should require that all per-diem payments in the state senate must have vouchers, so that the taxpayers can monitor and audit what you are collecting from them, and so that they can determine that the taxpayer money that you claim and put in your pocket is actually warranted.”

Samuel Joseph “Joe The Plumber” Wurzelbacher, Endorses Ryan for PA-17

Joe “The Plumber” Wurzelbacher, has endorsed Retired Marine Colonel Frank Ryan in the PA-17 Republican Primary election.

“I am looking nationwide for candidates who reflect conservative values and whose personal record of service shows they can be trusted to serve us -- and not themselves -- when elected. Frank Ryan embodies all these qualities and more.”

Joe gained national attention when Obama told him during a campaign stop that he wanted to “spread the wealth around.” Their exchange about Obama’s tax plan aired countless times on cable news programs. His powerful message of conservative values, adherence to the Constitution and a Fair Tax has gained respect nationwide. Joe continues to emphasize limited government, fiscal responsibility, and adherence to the Constitution.
Joe also commented: “Frank Ryan has outstanding qualifications for public office. As a U.S. Marine he served in combat for our country and he understands the challenges we face, and is prepared to do the heavy lifting to bring our nation back toward fiscal sanity.”

“We are delighted to receive the endorsement of a national figure of Joe The Plumber’s prominence,” responded Ryan. “I think it shows that our message about the challenges facing the nation, and my readiness to address them, is reaching an audience that wants to make America right again.”

A long standing (85 years) Republican stalwart, from Linesville, told Pepper, “I am so excited to see a qualified woman from Western Pennsylvania running for this important office!”. Another woman in Butler mirrored the same sentiment telling Pepper, “Its about time we get a good woman in there!” The Philadelphia Inquirer has highlighted the fact that Pepper is the only woman on the Republican ticket.

Many people had seen her quoted in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, and Allentown Morning Call, where she promoted the development of the Marcelles Shale and adamantly opposed any suggestion of penalizing this development with a punitive tax she labeled as “ridiculous”. She quoted the Beatles, “Let it Be ” (tax wise). “Let this rich resource under our feet, work its magic creating jobs for our state”
