http://leadershipforliberty.org/?p=393#more-393 Joe Hilliard at Leadership for Liberty, a Free Market blog, makes the case that the Republicans have put up another WAMming Hack. Solid research of Rep. Mensch's record on tax and spending.

From a recent email from Joe Hilliard:
"Republican Bob Mensch who sounds great according to his ads, especially the line “I have never voted to raise taxes”. However, here is his record for 2008:

· He voted for Act 76 which authorized a hotel tax of 5% for Allegheny County. Of course, he would claim that he only voted to allow local politicians to approve this tax, but that is a word game. If you truly oppose any tax hikes, you would not authorize the ability to increase them anywhere.

He is a “Borrow & Spend” Big Government Republican. He also voted for:

· Act 48 – Capital Facilities Debt Enabling Act – Increases Redevelopment Assistance Capital Projects (many pork projects) borrowing by $800 million

· Act 54 – Capital Budget Act of 2008/09 – approved an additional $980 million for many pork projects and ADDED an additional $200 million in borrowing authority for 2007/08

· Act 63 – H2O PA Act – approved $800 million in spending from the gaming fund for sewer projects

· Act 64 – Water and Sewer Systems Assistance Act – approved a ballot measure to borrow $400 million for water & sewer projects

That is almost $2.4 BILLION in borrowing for the state and a diversion of $800 million from casino property tax relief."
