OKAY I read this at least three times. This is how I feel.

This person admits to corruption. Fine. However it appears that this person lost something in all this and appears confused.

Is he trying to convince himself or others. I guess we all make excuses so we can live with our choices.
I feel very sad that these educated individuals are so confused about their actions. Perhaps he is trying to avoid more penalties and time in jail.

When did greed take over common sense?
Wow! Totally thought noone would be investigated I guess.

I took his recent court appearance as a confirmation of his arrogance and possibly narcissism.

"didn't do anything wrong", etc.???? You're accepting money to commit juveniles to a facility you have an ownership interest!!!!!

BTW, I've dealt with Mericle on certain matters and felt slimy every time... never could close a deal.. their commercial brokers are.. I'll stop here.

I try so hard not to let my anger change my personality.

It is very difficult to forgive this injustice against the children and citizens of Luzerne County. Where did our tax dollars go? Answer: To their high end lifestyles and comfortable homes.

With the Fumo verdict, you have to wonder what will become of other politicians who have their hand caught in the cookie jar.

    More slaps on the wrist?!?

This crime and abuse of the court system in Luzerne County will never have the full penalities enforced. We must all live with the fact that life is unfair.

At least we can vent with our blogs.

How do we fix this horrible abuse of power? Judges 'run-a-muck' with disregard for the tax payers, citizens and children. We must move forward.

    Let's hope for better days.

Consensus emerges on commission powers in Luzerne County Courthouse scandal
By Robert Swift (Harrisburg Bureau Chief)
    Published: July 17, 2009

HARRISBURG - A consensus is emerging that a special state commission should have subpoena powers to investigate the Luzerne County Courthouse scandal.

The Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday unanimously approved a House-passed version of legislation creating the Interbranch Commission on Juvenile Justice and giving it power to issue subpoenas.

If Governor Rendell is right, no corrupt politician should spend more than a year in jail.

I must post this link to an excellent editorial that was printed yesterday in reference to this whole mess! I am so impressed with Judge Edwin M. Kosik. I am also like this editorial in the Hazleton Standard Speaker. It truly reflects my opinion of this situation.

Kosik acts to hold judges accountable
    Published: August 5, 2009

U.S. District Judge Edwin M. Kosik has a reputation for being very demanding of lawyers - law and clients first, no self-serving antics allowed.

So it was hardly surprising that he demanded accountability from former Luzerne County Judges Michael T. Conahan and Mark A. Ciavarella.........
