It's best to let voters decide
    Published: November 9, 2009

Last Tuesday's election, like all elections, was a victory for the little guy.
    http://www.standardspeaker.com/opinion/it_s_best_to_let_voters_decide#articleComments

Here is my opinion about this editorial.

Yes it was a political tactic to try the bullet vote. I do not believe the GOP intended to insult the voters. I personally viewed the straight party instructions as a desperate try to keep the Democrats as the majority. It is apparent that the political corruption is something we must continue to fight. If the voters who voted straight party want that to continue then it will. In fact one city council candidate was overheard at the polls instructing voters to vote "Straight Democrat"! I respect those individuals who read about the candidates and try to make intelligent decisions about their vote. I just completed a discussion with a friend who is a registered Democrat. He never votes straight party. He stated that no one party has the best candidates for every position. I agreed with his comment. I think this newspaper is taking too much credit and pride with the printing of that particular photo. Really the purpose was to sell newspapers and satisfy the readers'
    hunger for juicy information.

In the campaign game the candidates in this race were very courteous. I believe it was a good idea. We all know that our Governor could make an appointment with Richard Hughes. Let's see if our state leader goes for that idea. There are other qualified individuals. This article mentions the primary candidates and their request. It will be an interesting turn of events. I believe Attorney Tom Marsillio is a high quality person with a wealth of knowledge and experience. He was a registered Republican for many years. He is now registered as a Democrat.

Who knows where this will go?

funny how you want to say it isnt about politics but electing the right person but then your party tells people to bullet vote! are you always filled with hypocrisy?
didnt try and insult voters? people need to be told how to vote? Our Governor and our State Leader should do what is in our best interest, place DEMOCRATS with DEMOCRATIC values on the bench. but your State Senator will play political games and use his power to better position himself with the voters.

That is just the politcal tactics. Really Lower Luzerne you feel very comfortable to bend the rules at the polls. Perhaps you do not fear or care if you bend the rules to coach voters as they vote.

Personally the Democrat and Republican thing is the system we have.

I am sometimes disappointed in both groups. I am not impressed with the tactics of our Governor. Really I cannot believe you support that! Maybe you should run for Governor?

YOU DO NOT JUST TELL PEOPLE HOW TO VOTE. YOU LIKE TO BREAK THE LAWS TO DO IT!

Show your face. Stop this silly game. It is easy to hide behind your fake name.

RUN FOR OFFICE! YOU are very strong in your statements. Really let everyone know your political forum and plans. It is apparent that you enjoy pointing fingers and calling people names. Oh well....whatever...to each his own. That is your style and personality.

In this past election I have attained the Constable position for Hazelton City Ward 1.

Read up on the duties of a Pennsylvania State Constable at this link:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pennsylvania_State_Constables

One important role is to protect the Polls from people like you that love to break the rules in the voting process just to promote your own personal agenda.

I must now go through training and spend my own money for items that I cannot afford.

What is your commitment to service?

Or is your game just to cause confusion and watch the show?

There is still a lot of finger pointing from the "complaint team".
Now we have a "hard working pro-active solutions team".

    Editor,

As the First District Republican Chairman, I am very impressed with the overall effort to get out the vote in last Tuesday's general election. Republicans and like-minded Democrats

do you feel you been lied to, when your Mayor asks to support his team, and then something like this comes out http://blogs.cqpolitics.com/eyeon2010/2009/11/kanjorskibarletta-rerematch-br.html
it is nothing but self serving, last thing he wants is to be Mayor, but his supporters will rally around him with blinded faith and say, NO we need Lou in Congress , he can better help us. watch and hear the rhetoric that comes out of his mouth, central to it all, immigration.

so so tired of this .............

I will proudly assist Lou Barletta for another campaign for Congress.

It will be a great thing for our area when he wins.

I believe the momemtun in the area is picking up to support another try.
I hope he takes that support and accepts the challenge.

I do not believe it is blind faith. I believe the supporters think he can assist the whole area.

There is only one other candidate I would consider for this position. That person is not thinking of another try for Congress so I support LOU's efforts.

Hey Ms. Deakos I have an idea. Run for Mayor of Hazleton or consider a run for Congress. Perhaps you are a good candidate? I rather see that then your support for the other mayor candidates(ARTIST JOHN). Perhaps Jack Mundie will run for mayor someday. I ask you to present yourself as a candidate for office in the near future. Did you once run for city council? This has now turned into another topic for another commentary. Please feel free to start a new one entitled:

    Gabos resigns school district position
    By SAM GALSKI (Staff Writer)
    Published: November 11, 2009

Hazleton City Councilman Tom Gabos will resign from a maintenance position with the Hazleton Area School District to devote more time to his electrical business.

Gabos confirmed the development on Tuesday, shortly after the school board released advance meeting agendas that say he will resign on Nov. 13. Hazleton Area school will review the agenda.................

"It was just the fact that I'm out doing very long days," Gabos said Tuesday. "After (the maintenance job) I have to service customers. I find it's getting exhausting."

Gabos, who unsuccessfully campaigned for re-election to Hazleton City Council, said that political campaign ads purchased by the Southern Luzerne Political Action Committee in the days leading.................................

i read in today's Standard Speaker that the school board unanimously approved the position for Mr Gabos. if i believe in what your attack dogs say about him using his political influence to get the job, which one of the school directors did he go to? i hear it was the Chairman of the First District Republican party, i cant believe a Republican would play political games in hiring someone!!!!! i think there should be an investigation into this, it doesn't sound legal.

    HEY Turtle!

I say show your proof Lower Luzerne.

Accusations only go so far.....give me testimony and evidence. Please stop playing those silly games at the polls. I will be watching and looking for no interference with the obstruction of a qualified elector's voting process in the next election as a Constable in Hazleton City Ward 1.
