Reilly Selected New Chairman of Delaware County Republican Party

    November 10, 2009 Contact: Pete Peterson – 215-990-8928

MEDIA, PA – Andy Reilly, the former Chairman of Delaware County Council and the chair of the past two Republican Delaware County Council campaigns, has been named the new Chairman of the Delaware County Republican Executive Committee following a vote today by Republican Party committee people. Reilly succeeds Tom Judge, who after 35 years of leadership, announced earlier this year that he would step down from the position. Judge will remain active in the party in the new position of Chairman Emeritus.

“I greatly appreciate the support of the committee people of the county, who are the backbone of the party,” said Chairman Reilly. “It is their commitment to the Republican ideals of smaller government and fiscal responsibility – as well as excellent candidates -- that have enabled the party to be so successful in municipal and county elections year after year.”

“As Chairman, I will work to build on the successes of the 2009 election by injecting a burst of renewed enthusiasm, modern technology, and voter out-reach activities on the county level,” said Reilly. “The strength of the Republican Party in Delaware County is our members – Little League coaches, parents who volunteer at their school, senior citizens who are active in their local community, and individuals who work to make their hometowns a better place to live. We need to expand our successes by continuing to recruit excellent candidates and involving more people in the party infrastructure.”

“For many decades, our Republican Party has been a model of organization and dedication and I will work to strengthen the party by focusing on the future and the need to elect individuals who are committed to improving Delaware County for their neighbors, children, and grandchildren.”

    About Andy Reilly

Andy Reilly served as a member of Delaware County Council from 2000 to 2008, and served as Chairman from 2006 to 2008. He has been the Republican leader of the 168th Legislative District since 1997 and the Republican municipal leader of Middletown since 2002. He recently served Chairman and Manager of the successful County Council campaign of Mario Civera and Jack Whelan, a post he also held in 2007 for the County Council campaigns of Christine Fizzano Cannon, Tom McGarrigle, and Andy Lewis (2007). Reilly has also been a long time Republican committeeman, is the former Chairman of the Delaware County Young Republicans, and served as Countywide Chairman for numerous state judicial campaigns as well as on the fundraising committee for several judicial, legislative and county candidates. Reilly, his wife and three daughters reside in Middletown Township, Delaware County.
