Rumor has it that Attorney Toohil will be switching parties to challenge Eachus in November. Seems this 30something lawyer who lives at home, works in Kingston and hasnt contributed a penny to the Democratic party is being persuaded to switch parties after finding NO support in the 116th Democratic Party.

What this shows me is that the Republicans that are putting Toohil in the race cant find a TRUE Republican to run against Eachus.

Read about Ms Toohil and the comments of voters in the district.

She's being encouraged by the local R's. Nice girl, known her for a long time, but she's being used. Would be better off using the free publicity for her tiny law practice and getting out of the way, pronto.

with todays announcement of Musto not running for re-election, maybe Ms Toohil will want to run for PA Senate!

or will Lou Barletta?

well seems Attorney Toohil has been sending out invites for a major announcement next week.
and the person that will be introducing her,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, you got it America's #1 Mayor Lou Barletta
....... is the news she is running for state rep or is the REAL news she has switched party registration to Republican!

Lou, you need to worry about your own politics, dancing with Eachus, you never came out a winner before...... you wont again......

lowerluzerne, how tough would it be for a Republican to win that Senate Seat?

I noticed on the Department of States website Musto ran unopposed in both 2006 and 2002. (darn, no benchmark to look at!)

My gut tells me this seat would be nearly impossible for a Republican to win (even with 2010 being a bad year for Dems, the Judicial corruption issue that might make people to consider alternative party options, etc.) You seem to know the lay of the land.

it's a solid Democrat seat. there is only one Republican state rep that has a small piece of it and he is from Monroe County. the names being tossed around are all from northern Luzerne County, the First District where Hazleton is will decide who gets elected to this seat.

and with a strong vote coming out for Kanjorski, Arlen, Eachus and others the R's have no chance,

Toohil has done a Stish. The State Republican Party got Ms Toohil down to Harrisburg under advise from Mayor Lou Barletta and got her to switch from Democrat to Republican. Only time will tell WHY she switched, was it just her being an opportunist or was it some deep-rooted ideological reason? There have been others that have followed Mayor Barletta's advise to run against Eachus. -first there was Susan Parrick Coxe, 12,114-6,288 EACHUS won.-then Sean Shamany 15,480-7,016 EACHUS won- then Michael Klesh, 12,469-2,037 EACHUS won,and then there was John Rodgers while i don't have that vote total, you got it, EACHUS won.

you see where i am going here, Barletta tries and uses these poor souls but in the end they are all alone on the ballot with Bareltta NO WHERE to be found.
