ARGALL CHALLENGES INCUMBENT HOLDEN TO BRING SPEAKER PELOSI TO 17th District

HARRISBURG - As Democrats gather this weekend in Lancaster for their winter meeting and to "Roast and Toast" the tenure of Governor Ed Rendell, Senator David Argall is calling on Tim Holden to bring the weekend's guest speaker- Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi- out of Lancaster and into the 17th Congressional District-- the area the congressman refers to as, "his seat."

"Unfortunately, while the Democrat Party leaders raise a toast to their power, the voters of the district are the ones getting roasted by their reckless spending and blind effort to enact a government takeover of health care," said Argall. "At a time when families are struggling with paying their bills and the overall economy continues to suffer, I believe Tim Holden should encourage his party's leader put down the Champaign glass and come before the voters of the 17th Congressional District," added Argall.

Speaker Pelosi's visit comes on the heels of the positive Congressional vote to raise the national debt by almost $2 trillion. That will bring the new national debt limit to an equivalent of $46,319 for every U.S. resident.

"I'm calling on my opponent to lead," Argall challenged. "I think Congressman Holden and Speaker Pelosi should explain why, after President Obama just asked for fiscal restraint during his State of the Union message, they and the House majority voted yesterday to increase the national debt to $14.3 trillion."

"We are facing a tough economic recession, the worst many of us have seen in our lifetimes," added Argall. "Unemployment in the midstate just matched its highest mark in close to 30 years, so I ask my opponent to lead by holding a town-hall meeting with Speaker Pelosi prior to her departure and listen to the concerns of the people," Argall concluded.
